D.C. Circuit Court agrees to rehear NTEU v. CFPB case based on ‘separation-of-powers’ arguments

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to rehear NTEU v. CFPB en banc after considering a petition for rehearing, amicus briefs filed by 41 nonprofits and 36 Congressmembers in support of the rehearing, and a vote in favor of the petition by a majority of the judges eligible to participate.

 
Trump CFPB nomination may extend Vought’s stay as acting director

President Donald Trump tapped Stuart Levenbach to become the new permanent director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) on Nov. 19. However, a spokesperson for the White House has indicated Levenbach’s nomination was merely a legal maneuver meant to keep acting CFPB director Russ Vought in place.

 
CFPB says it needs $279.6M to operate in 2026; will it get it?

Two Fed governors refuse support of final rule modifying bank reserve standards

Two New York-area banks announce merger

OceanFirst Bank is merging with a New York state chartered commercial bank in a transaction valued at $579 million, creating a regional bank expected to have $23 billion in assets, $17 billion in total loans, and $18 billion in total deposits across 71 retail branches.
