Despite intense pressure from President Donald Trump to lower interest rates, the Federal Open Market Committee voted to maintain the federal funds target rate at a range between 4-1/4 and 4-1/2 percent at its July meeting. Two committee members dissented, marking the first time in more than 30 years more than one Fed governor has done so.
