If we were to rank fair lending legislation in terms of superiority, the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977 would still be the new kid on the block. The CRA’s role, in addition to ensuring equitable credit access for marginalized communities, is to complement other fair lending regulations. Therefore, any changes or legal challenges to CRA standards can have a direct impact on the effectiveness of other regulations, and vice versa.
