Fed to propose capital requirements for large insurers

In a speech at the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s International Insurance Forum, Federal Reserve Board Gov. Daniel Tarullo discussed plans for an advance notice of proposed rulemaking on capital requirements for large insurers. The Dodd-Frank Act gave the Fed regulatory responsibilities for insurance holding companies that own a federally insured bank or thrift and for insurance companies designated as systemically important by the Financial Stability Oversight Council.
