The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced the publication of 2025 Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data on the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council’s (FFIEC) HMDA Platform on March 31.
The published data contains loan-level information collected from 4,768 financial institutions via the 2025 HMDA Modified Loan Application Register (LAR), maintained by the FFIEC, where it is modified to protect consumer privacy.
By making all loan-level LAR data available on the FFIEC’s platform, the CFPB complied with the 2015 HMDA rule, requiring HMDA filer information to be available electronically to increase public accessibility. Previously, HMDA users could only access LAR data by requesting it from institutions directly.
In addition to institution-specific modified LAR files, users can download one combined file containing modified LAR data for all HMDA-filing institutions.
HMDA filers also may refer to the CFPB’s “Beginner’s Guide to Accessing and Using HMDA Data” for background on HMDA and technical tips for understanding and analyzing the data.
