The Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) Society presented Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) President and CEO Bob Broeksmit with its E. Michael Rosser, MBA Education Lifetime Achievement Award during MBA’s 2025 Annual Convention & Expo on Oct. 19.
“Today, we honor Bob not only for his leadership, but for his lifelong dedication to the CMB designation, the mortgage industry, and his principled stewardship of MBA,” 2024/2025 CMB Society Chair Bob Niemi said during the presentation ceremony. “He has inspired a new generation of professionals to pursue excellence, and his commitment to education and integrity embodies the very spirit of Michael Rosser, who championed higher standards across our profession. Few represent these ideals more completely than Bob.”
Broeksmit was celebrated for his role in strengthening the MBA’s standing as a respected and influential voice in Washington since joining MBA in 2018. An MBA press release touted stated that policymakers and regulators have gained a deeper understanding of the essential role housing finance plays in the lives of millions of Americans.
Prior to MBA, he served as president and COO of Treliant, leading its mortgage litigation support and advisory practice for major financial institutions. Earlier in his career, Broeksmit held senior executive roles at Chevy Chase Bank (later Capital One), where he was executive vice president and president of B.F. Saul Mortgage Company, as well as at Prudential Home Mortgage. He has overseen multi-billion-dollar origination, servicing, and balance sheet operations and testified as an expert in high-profile mortgage litigation.
The E. Michael Rosser MBA Education Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual recognized for demonstrating outstanding service to MBA, the CMB Society and the real estate finance industry.
