Dodd Frank Update is reporting live from the
“City of Brotherly Love” at MBA Annual 23, where more than 2,500 mortgage
professionals will be lending their ears during educational sessions and
networking on the conference floor inside Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania
Convention Center.
The Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) pinnacle event will
feature a slew of notable speakers, including industry leaders, federal
regulators and even award-winning authors, actors and musicians.
Sunday’s itinerary included “Members Only” sessions for
virtually all manner of mortgage industry professionals and an MBA-hosted
“Market Outlook” special session, followed by the “MBA Opening Ceremony” to
commemorate the installation of the 2024 MBA officers and more.
Monday’s sessions will feature some of the biggest names in
housing and financial policy, offering insight into the secondary market,
technology innovations and regulatory actions that could have sweeping
implications across the industry. The day will conclude with a networking
reception at Broad St. Social, as well as closed networking events hosted by
the Mortgage Action Alliance and the MBA Opens Doors Foundation.
Educational opportunities will continue Tuesday, with
breakout sessions dissecting today’s top regulatory issues, marketing
strategies and a roundtable discussion exploring the benefits and barriers to
using artificial intelligence in training (RSVP required). The nightcap will
feature a performance by Grammy Award-winning musician, author and actor Tim
McGraw.
Attendees will get to hear news and insights from Priscilla
Almodovar, CEO of Fannie Mae; Rohit Chopra, director of the Consumer Financial
Protection Bureau; The Honorable Julia Gordon, federal housing commissioner for
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; Patrick Harker, president
of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia; Mike Hutchins, president of
Freddie Mac; and The Honorable Sandra Thompson, director of the Federal Housing
Finance Agency.
MBA’s top brass and analysts will offer key insights about
the state of the mortgage climate and monetary policy, as will several
prominent business leaders, including Madeline Bell, president and CEO of the
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Robert Broeksmit, president and CEO of
MBA; Marcia Davies, mPower founder and chief operating officer of MBA; Julian
Hebron, founder and CEO of The Basis Point; Mark Jones, 2024 MBA Chairman/
president of Union Home Mortgage; Stanley Middleman, CEO of Freedom Mortgage;
and Sister Mary Scullion, president and Executive Director of Project
HOME.
Attendees also will be treated to presentations by Geena
Davis, Academy Award-winning actor/ founder and chair of the Geena Davis
Institute on Gender in Media; Jon Meacham, presidential historian and Pulitzer
Prize-winning author; Vince Papale, former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver/
inspiration for the movie “Invincible”; Nina Tassler, advisor and former chair
of CBS Entertainment/ Managing Partner of PatMa Productions.
