CFPB releases proposal for regulating arbitration clauses

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced its plans at a recent field hearing to start the rulemaking process for regulating pre-dispute arbitration clauses. Under its proposal, the bureau is seeking to eliminate class-action waivers in arbitration clauses and to require companies to submit data on their arbitration disputes for further monitoring.
