U.S. Bancorp, the parent company of U.S. Bank, recently named
Gunjan Kedia as its president. She will bring her 27 years of financial
services experience to her new role overseeing the company’s three business
lines and will be tasked with ensuring the company maintains a shared focus on
growth and holistic client experiences across its entire network.
With more than $657 billion in total assets, U.S. Bank ranks
fifth among the country’s largest banks, according to Federal Reserve data as
of September 2023.
Since joining U.S. Bank in 2016, she has gained a reputation
as an “influential leader,” according to a company press release praising her
for being “steadily focused on enhancing growth and client depth.” It also noted her prominent role in driving the
organization’s diversity efforts and critical strategies.
“We have a unique and special culture at U.S. Bank that
allows us to celebrate with our clients, grow alongside our team of talented
professionals, and support our communities,” Kedia said. “I am deeply
honored to be trusted with this opportunity to drive our future success in a
broader way. I am looking forward to collaborating with leaders across our
revenue lines to drive further success in our organization, as we continue to
shape the future of U.S. Bank together.”
Kedia has been listed as among Barron’s 100 Most
Influential Women in the U.S. Finance twice and as one of the American
Banker’s “Most Powerful Women in Finance” six times. She holds a master’s
degree in business administration with distinction from Carnegie Mellon
University, which honored her with its alumni achievement award in 2018 and its
professional excellence award in 2022.
She will report to Andy Cecere, who will continue to serve
as U.S. Bank’s chair and CEO as he has since 2018, the company said.
“During her more than seven years with U.S. Bank, Gunjan has
shown herself to be a visionary leader who understands our business and is
driven to help us perform at our best,” Cecere said. “She has an unwavering
commitment to serving our clients, building strong teams and living our values.
She will partner with me and our entire managing committee as we continue to
chart our course for the future, and she will build on her proven success to
drive further growth across all our business lines.”
