Why veterans facing foreclosure are still waiting for help

Although Congress passed the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act (H.R. 1815) on July 15, 2025, authorizing the VA to establish a five-year partial claim program, the development process has taken nearly a year. Donna Schmidt, president and CEO of DLS Servicing and WaterfallCalc, told Dodd Frank Update the delay has less to do with the VA dragging its feet and far more to do with political hangups, staffing cuts and a lack of collaboration between federal agencies.
