MISMO is seeking comments on engineering Guidelines 21 and 40 as updates were made to them by its architecture workgroup.
The comment period for both guidelines will be 30 days and will end on June 18, 2021. This period also allows those who participated on the proposals time to review and disclose any applicable patent rights. Any non-participant organization that may have any patent or patent applications, or other intellectual property rights that might be infringed upon by an organization that uses or is compliant with these proposed MISMO products should disclose them in writing at this time.
“The MISMO [guidelines] ensure that MISMO work products adhere to all applicable technology standards, are produced in a consistent fashion, and meet the needs of the mortgage industry,” the organization said in a release.
Engineering Guideline 21 provides guidance for term name, data point name, enumerated value, and container name representations. The workgroup updated this guideline to change mentions of “XML” to “data interchange.” This was done to prepare for the use of JSON and potentially other formats as well as include reference to the Logical Data Dictionary.
Engineering Guideline 40 provides guidance for the data point and container definitions. The workgroup modified the introduction to remove XML specific language, updated language in Sections 40.2.1 and 40.1, and added 40.2.3 and 40.2.4 definition rules for detail containers.
