representing the country’s largest banks testified before the Senate Banking
Committee that while their companies are capable of meeting increased capital standards
described in the Basel III Endgame proposed rule, doing so could have negative
effects on credit access and competition in the mortgage marketplace, as well
as in the economy in general.
