FHFA releases new tool for multifamily mortgage acquisitions
The Federal Housing Finance Agency released an interactive tool for tracking data on multifamily mortgages that enables users to review details about loans and properties at both the state and national levels. The tool, known as a data visualization dashboard, provides a more accessible way to view and understand data on multifamily mortgages. It is derived from the Public Use Database (PUDB) of mortgage acquisitions by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Learn more here.
SEC to host virtual national compliance outreach seminar
The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Compliance Outreach Program will host a virtual national seminar for investment companies and investment advisers on Nov. 7. This seminar is intended to help chief compliance officers and other senior personnel at investment companies and investment advisory firms enhance their compliance programs for the protection of investors. It will include panel discussions on: information security and operational resiliency; registered investment company topics; private fund adviser topics; marketing rule; registered investment adviser topics; and a “hot topics lightning round.” Read more about the agenda here.
FDIC releases survey results for annual deposits
The latest results for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s (FDIC) annual survey of branch office deposits for all FDIC-insured institutions as of June 30 offers show insights from more than 76,000 domestic offices operated by more than 4,500 FDIC-insured commercial and savings banks, savings associations, and U.S. branches of foreign banks. The FDIC’s Summary of Deposits (SOD) includes historical data dating back to 1994 that can be analyzed via online reports, tables, and downloads. SOD users can locate bank offices in a particular geographic area and create custom market share reports for areas such as state, county, and metropolitan statistical area. NCUA releases Q2 state-level credit union data report
Total assets, shares and deposits, and membership at federally insured credit unions declined at the median over the year ending in the second quarter, according to the latest Quarterly U.S. Map Review released by the National Credit Union Administration. Meanwhile, loans outstanding increased, while median asset growth declined marginally, compared with a slight uptick over the year ending in the second quarter of 2023. The median growth in shares and deposits over the examined period was negative 1.2 percent, compared with negative 2.4 percent over the previous year. The second quarter ended with 84 percent of federally insured credit unions showing positive year-to-date net income, compared with 87 percent at the end of the second quarter last year.
