AmCap Mortgage, a privately held national mortgage banker based in Houston, has named Michael Goldman chief operating officer (COO) of the company.
Previously, Mike Johnson held the titles of both COO and president. He will now be focusing on serving as president of the company, which has 75 branches, licensed in 32 states.
“We are very fortunate to have had Mike Goldman on the AmCap Mortgage team for the last four years,” Johnson said. “Mike has built the Gold Financial division brilliantly and he will be invaluable in the key role of chief operating officer as AmCap continues its growth throughout the continental United States.”
In his new role as AmCap COO, Goldman will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of AmCap Mortgage as it grows loan volume and expands to additional areas of the country. AmCap currently has about 800 employees, services its own loans and expects to fund about $3 billion in residential mortgages in 2017. The company recently made news when it brought renowned mortgage industry figure A.W. Pickel, III aboard as president of its newly formed Midwest Division.
Goldman is a 20-year mortgage veteran. He founded Gold Financial Services in San Antonio in 1998, which later joined AmCap Mortgage as a division of the company. Goldman and his team have grown their division to over 200 employees and will fund about $1 billion in government and conventional loans in 2017. He began his career as a loan officer in San Antonio and rose through the ranks to branch management and regional management roles in his home state of Texas. Goldman earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
“AmCap has a rich history of providing great mortgage experiences for its customers and for being a great place to work,” Goldman said, noting that the company has been listed among Houston's top places to work for the last five years. “My goal is to keep the company running in top form as it continues its impressive track record of growth and personalized customer service. We intend to increase volume by 50 percent in 2017 through organic growth and by adding like-minded, customer service-oriented regional companies that desire to be part of a great American success story like AmCap Mortgage.”
