CFPB begins administrative proceeding against online, short-term lender

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau filed a Notice of Charges on Nov. 18 against Integrity Advance, LLC, and its CEO, James R. Carnes, alleging that the online lender committed unfair and deceptive acts or practices by failing to disclose certain contract terms and using remotely created checks to debit consumers’ bank accounts despite the consumers’ revoking authorization for automatic withdrawals.
