Challenging conditions mean risk management must remain a priority, OCC says

Slow economic growth and a prolonged low interest rate environment are creating unique challenges for banks seeking to improve their profits, according to a new report from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The OCC said some national banks and federal thrifts are “layering risk back into the system in ways that are difficult to quantify” given the current environment.
