The Commodity Futures Trading Commission voted to establish a panel tasked with developing recommendations regarding the definition of high frequency trading. The definition is expected to serve as an initial step toward assessing the presence and impact of such trading in CFTC regulated markets for consideration of appropriate regulatory and policy responses. The regulator also asked the public to nominate experts for the new group.
