Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp. donated $1 million to the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Open Doors Foundation.
Over the last decade, Open Doors has granted more than $9.2 million in housing assistance to more than 6,500 families with critically ill or injured children to help them stay in their homes while their child was in treatment.
“We are deeply grateful to Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp. for their historic and generous contribution,” Debra Still, president and CEO of Pulte Financial Services and MBA Opens Doors Foundation chairman, said in a release. “As our country continues to battle the economic and health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, a gift of this magnitude will help us meet the growing needs of families with children facing significant health challenges. I can’t emphasize enough just how important this gift is to the Opens Doors Foundation and the thousands of families we help year after year.”
Steve Jacobson, founder and CEO of Fairway Independent, said the company has much to be grateful for after the challenges of the pandemic, and was thankful to be able to make the contribution.
“Giving back to help families and communities that are struggling is simply the right thing to do,” Jacobson said. “The housing industry has fared better than most during these challenging times. When the pandemic hit, there was a tremendous amount of confusion and uncertainty. The mortgage industry was facing steep challenges, but we were fortunate to have the support of the Mortgage Bankers Association, which in turn allowed us to help families in communities hard hit by the economic downturn that followed.”
President of the MBA Open Doors Foundation Deborah Dubois said it was hard to think of a better way to start out the organization’s tenth year.
“We are profoundly grateful to Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp. for their leadership in these difficult and uncertain times, and we look forward to partnering with others to keep families in their homes,” she said.
