Mountain America Credit Union and the Utah Jazz recently announced that the 5 For The Fight program was selected to receive one of five $5,000 donations handed out by “Pass It Along,” a program featuring fan nomination opportunities for local charitable organizations in Utah.
5 For The Fight, which aims to raise funds to accelerate the pace of innovative cancer research, will be presented with a $5,000 donation prior to a game between the Jazz and the New Orleans Pelicans at Vivint Smart Home Arena. The photo and check presentation were scheduled to take place on center court prior to tipoff.
“Cutting-edge cancer research is expensive and requires a rallying of support,” Qualtrics Head of Social Impact Lori Kun said in a press release. “Cancer is a cause that will take everyone’s help to eradicate, which is why 5 For The Fight is grateful to partner with great companies like Mountain America Credit Union and researchers at Huntsman Cancer Institute. It will take donations like this $5,000, along with contributions from individuals who give $5, to help eliminate cancer. 5 For The Fight is proud to continue this work in honor of those who we’ve lost to cancer and for those who are fighting now.”
In addition to the $5,000 donation, 5 For The Fight received a visit from Mountain America Credit Union President and CEO Sterling Nielsen along with tickets to a Jazz home game.
Fans are encouraged to nominate local charitable groups that they feel go above and beyond in giving back to the community via www.utahjazz.com/passitalong. One winner will be announced each month through March 2018, for a total of $25,000 in donations.
