The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced it has hired Clinton Jones as new general counsel, replacing Alfred Pollard, the first and only person to have held that office since the agency’s formation in 2008.
“Alfred has served admirably as general counsel to every FHFA director,” Director Mark Calabria said in a release. “I am grateful for his wise counsel, hard work, and dedication to the agency.”
Pollard will be retiring from the agency at the end of March.
Jones joined the agency in 2019 as a senior advisor. Prior to his time at the FHFA, he served in various legal roles with the U.S. House of Representatives committee on financial services for 24 years. His resume also includes serving as vice president at Fannie Mae and attorney advisor for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“Clinton’s long-standing career in public service, in-depth legal expertise in housing policy, and executive leadership skills will help bolster FHFA’s work as a world-class prudential regulator,” Calabria said.
