In public remarks at the Brookings Institute, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said that the central bank’s benchmark interest rate will likely continue to increase. He acknowledged the aggressive action taken by the Fed over the past six months will offer the Fed some “breathing room” to take less aggressive action.
