October Research, LLC produced the first of a four-part webinar series titled Economic Forecast Series – Q1 2021.
The 30-minute presentation features Doug Duncan, Fannie Mae’s senior vice president and chief economist, as he reviews the current situation for 2021. SoftPro sponsored the event, and it is free to all viewers.
“Last year was a very unusual year,” Duncan said. “This year is unusual in a different way, in that there’s huge policy intervention in the U.S. economy and the question is, how that policy intervention will play out against the hopes that an effective, broadly distributed vaccine will increase the confidence of consumers to use some of that ‘dry powder’ they have on their household balance sheets.”
Duncan spoke about last year’s recession, which industries were hit hardest by the downturn of discretionary spending, significant public policy changes, the Federal Reserve’s projection on interest rates and inflation, new home sale and price appreciation trends, and the rental market.
