Republicans raise the stakes in battle over CFPB nomination

Outspoken Republicans in the House and Senate show no sign of backing down from a debate over the legitimacy of the 2012 recess appointment that placed Richard Cordray at the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The leader of the Republican-controlled House Financial Services Committee banned Cordray from testifying before the committee on the agency’s semi-annual report.
