The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced that Charles Taylor, deputy comptroller for regulatory policy, was selected by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) to chair its Standards Implementation Group (SIG). For this role, Taylor will assume a prominent leadership role within the BCBS.
“I’m very pleased that Charles can apply his more than thirty years of experience in the financial services industry to further improve the quality of banking supervision at the international level,” said Comptroller of the Currency Thomas Curry. “Charles brings strong leadership and expertise to his new role.”
Under Taylor’s leadership, the SIG will continue to further the BCBS’s mandate to enhance the understanding of key supervisory issues and improve the quality of banking supervision worldwide. The SIG is tasked with promoting greater effectiveness and consistency in the implementation of BCBS guidance and standards, including its capital standards framework. The SIG has seven sub-groups that address the calculation of risk weights for the banking and trading books, operational risks, Pillar II issues, supervisory colleges, SIB supervision and the overall implementation of the Basel standards.
